Who are we? That's a very good question, we're glad you asked.

CCM. That's short for Cheshire Chunky Monkeys, in case you haven't read the title page. Originally, and before we even had a name (let alone a silly name), we consisted of three blokes that rode together in Delamere. We were put in touch with eachother by the Chester Road Club, who had no MTB arm.

After one dropped out and the other looked like going to the dark side & buying a road bike, I decided to make some effort to find new people to ride with. A google search brought me to bikemagic, and I put up the "CHESTER Mountain Biking" thread, fishing for new riding contacts.

I was pleased when I got responses from half a dozen or so people, and we were soon riding together on a regular basis. As the weeks went by the thread on BM went from strength to strength, and we were joined by more people over the weeks. When Russ joined the thread, he introduced all the Clwyd rides he knows, and that's made a huge difference to our riding habits. Hats off to Russ for that, and for being a generally good bloke.

Since then we've grown into a loose "collective" of like-minded riders & mickey takers that meet regularly to ride together & buzz of eachother. We've got quite a few "non-members" now, in excess of 50 subscribing to our forums, and the numbers grow every month. Since we clubbed together to buy our own forum software, we've left the BikeMagic thread for our emergencies incase the website goes down, which it does occasionally. In additon to the forums we've added a sophisticated gallery for all of our pictures of our rides, bikes, ugly mugs & anything else that we fancy putting on. If you click on the Gallery link from the home page, you can have a look around.

We're not balls-out downhillers, but we love a nicely crafted twisting descent, but we're (me excluded) not frightened of riding up hills to get our downhill jollies. For the most part we ride XC with the occasional "wheels off ground" experience, and we love what we do. We have the occasional injury, as you can imagine with this active sport of ours, but every time we get back in the saddle - after we've recouperated, of course! At time of writing, in addition to the Clwyd rides, we've been to the Marin trail, Coed-y-Brenin, and the new Cli-Mach trail at Machyntllech (how do you spell that again?). We've been up to the 7 Stanes routes in Scotland, and some of our fitter number have competed in a few XC races.

We're not keen on elitism, and have a wide range of skills & hill-climbing ability. There's always someone to ride with wherever you are in the pack, and the banter is always good natured. I think? All we ask of anyone that wants to join in, is that they have a bike that's capable of riding the trails, is well maintained, and they wear a helmet at the very least to protect their bonce. If you're unfit - you can ride with me at the back. if you're an XC whippet, you can try & keep up with Derek & CP.
